I’ve Got Rotten Neighbors

You know the kind of neighbors that do what they want and feel that instead of living in an apartment that they’re chillin’ in their palatial estate. You know, they come out onto the terrace and cause a ruckus when their friends come over, they smoke and you can’t even slide your terrace door open in the summer because some of their smoke ALWAYS wafts over towards your window and then you have to inhale it. They are the ones who have pets and think that even people who don’t have pets wants to be bothered with them. I wrote a letter to my neighbor. I’m going to print it out next week and mail it. I’m tired and so are other people. Here’s the letter. Feel free to use it if you ever encounter the same problemo:

Just so you know, it is a consensus among the neighbors of how much of a nuisance the treatment of your dog is becoming. We can’t for the life of us understand why if you have a dog or wanted one that you leave it out on the terrace in the 90 degree heat, frigid cold in the wintertime and have it whining and yelping all afternoon long with a total disregard to those who live over you, next to you and across the yard from you. In case you weren’t sure, you live in an apartment. Your terrace isn’t actually the backyard of your own personal home or sprawling estate, meaning that even people who don’t want dogs still has to hear yours all afternoon and as late as almost 10pm at night and it’s annoying to the point that we have already contacted animal abuse (be on the lookout they’re coming to pay you a visit) and the next step is to call the local precinct. Maybe your dog doesn’t match the furniture anymore or maybe you just shampooed your carpets and don’t want him inside, but either way, YOU HAVE A DOG, so, give all of us who pay rent at ****** a break, will you? How would you like to sit outside with a fur coat on in 90 degree weather with no water bowl? Show some decency or empathy. But you probably won’t do that, because decent people don’t do what you’ve been doing to their pets, do they? In the meantime we’re hoping that if we can get enough signatures that you will be ousted from the apartment altogether. Sadly that won’t help your dog receive better treatment, in the event that you decide to move someplace else, but at least we can open our terrace doors without hearing the constant yapping, yelping and feeling the utter pity that settles in the bottom of our stomaches for having to listen to a helpless animal being treated the way you treat yours.

2008 BET Awards and other Boredom

It’s a shame that I have to email myself messages to remember things. Anyway I heard that Omar Tyree quit writing street lit after he founded it. Pardon me while I yawn and recall how you can be the founder of something that already exited–a little reminiscent of Christopher Columbus. Speaking of yawning, I know I’m late, but I saw the BET Awards finally. Not like I was chompin’ at the bit to see it, but I heard Alicia Keys rocked as always and that the Al Green tribute was “all that”. “Bout time somebody recognized that man. I enjoyed just those two things. That was it for the show though. Alicia was the highlight, she SWV, TLC and En Vogue, the original with Dawn. Imagine that, the original Dawn. They rocked though. I thought Keisha Cole should have sung a different song and I’m so not fond of Lil’ Kim. Sigh. Did you see it or was I the only viewer?

Friends or Acquaintances

I know it’s weird, but I’ve gotten to the point where I’m not letting anything or anybody mess up the happy life I have. If I’m paying for a service and not getting it, then I’ll stop paying. If I’m helping someone who doesn’t appreciate it, then I’ll stop helping. It’s amazing how freeing that can be. I want to revisit a thought. What is a friend. Many people have different ideas about what a friend is, but they differ from my idea and if you’re supposed to be “my” friend shouldn’t the “our” idea of friendship be the same? I’m just asking because some people view friendship as–I’ll call you once a year and come and visit only if it’s a special occasion, but that’s not my idea. That’s my idea of an acquaintance and that’s the problem, too many people are calling each other friends when they’re really acquaintances. Imagine that.

I’m back, sort of. I’ve been swamped lately–working part time at an assisted living facility teaches you a lot and I haven’t really had time to talk about shoes or shop for them either for that matter. Your girl, has taken up fishing. Hubby is teaching me everything he knows. I haven’t caught anything yet, but hey, that’s the fun of it right, trying. I’m slowly whittling down the last few copies of The Plural Thing: Spiritually Preparing for Your Soul Mate that I have left and look forward to it going into it’s 2nd Legitimate Printing. Yay! I say legitimate printing because well, many people claim printings when they have yet to sell out the first run of books or when they still have a stack of books in their closet. Also I’m busy writing another non-fiction book and I won’t say what it’s about just yet, you’ll have to visit the blog more regularly to find that out. I’m also down to my last few copies of The Hamptons. For some reason they sell really really well around the summertime. I guess people want to read it before they go there. If you’ve been promising that you’ll read it, don’t miss it. After the ones Amazon.com has are gone–it’s fin. I thought about bringing it back in paperback, but I don’t know–we’ll see. I’m not looking forward to doing anything that may mean more work for me right now. I can barely check my mail or keep my Love Better Camp Monday Morning Series up to date. But enjoy your weekend–next up-SHOES!

Maybe I owe you explanation. Maybe not. *lol* it’s my blog right? But I haven’t been feeling much like blogging lately. So much foolishness on tv both in entertainment and the political arena is so depressing. I wonder how many people actually still stop by and read this blog. I don’t talk about sex or how much I’m getting so I guess the entertainment factor is pretty low around these parts. Then there’s that stupid Essence thing and I’m an inch from taking their banner off of my site. It’s so bogus with people voting for every post just to get the highest ranking. A battle of the blogs. I refuse to buy into that. I’m getting a steady stream of income from my blog from advertisers taking out ads and banners from which I earn real cash not pennies for clicks. My Adsense is pretty steady too. I think I get a check from them every 2-3 months. The Technorati ranking thing has me a little peeved too because I’m thinking 46? Or whatever it is now. Is that supposed to mean I’m not popular? There are popular blogs that aren’t earning revenues so as long as I’m earning I’m peachy.

I’m gearing up for the singles and couple weekend retreat at the end of this month. Yay! I love camping! I promise to take more pictures this time. I’m also working on The Plural Thing Companion (not the actual title) which is a follow up The Plural Thing. It’s coming along nicely and I can’t wait to drop it off on my agent’s doorstep. Atlanta was awesome. For those on my mailing list you’ve already got the link to the photos. So what’s new with you ladies and gents? Oh and those those shoes up there just ROCK!
